The UK 3" CD was part of a Virgin reissue series - the 3" CD had just made an appearance as a single format and Virgin were cashing in on its new popularity. No expense was spared - the CD carried the same tracks and had the same artwork as the original 12" which was released three years previously.

Somone at A&M was much more imaginitive : the US market had the choice of two CD formats plus a different track selection. The live version of Don't You was chosen instead of the studio mix and a different selection of tracks made up the B-side. The 3" CD appeared in one of the "notorious" long boxes - it's impossible to release the 3" CD and its slip sleeve without destroying the long box - mint copies remained unopened and unplayed.
